We're into a new year, with more promise of adventure and time outside in nature.

Happy New Year to everyone who reads this newsletter!
We’re up and away in to 2024 in what I hope is another year filled with adventure and more time outside in nature.
The festive period as always was a busy time to navigate and most of my free time was used up with plans of some kind, usually involved copious amounts of wine and chocolate!
Here are some little adventures I did manage to do over the past month though:
A New Years Walk
A walk at Bradgate Park has become a bit of a New Years Day tradition. It must be for a lot of other people as well because we struggled to find somewhere to park and had to settle for a different car park than usual. This meant we had to take a different walking route though and got to discover a beautiful trail past the Old John watch tower and down to the cafe.
A Sunrise on the Hill
I dashed out of my house early one morning and headed to the hill near my house. I spent an hour sat at the top of the hill on my own watching the sunrise over the village where I live, without seeing a single other person.
Huncote Hash 10k
For the past 2 years I’ve been saying I would sign up for this 10k run in between Christmas and New Year, and each year I forget. So instead I headed up to a part of the route and gave everyone a cheer as they ran the cross country route, head to toe in mud.
When I find myself with free time that isn’t spent outdoors, I usually end up reading or watching other people spend their time outside. Here are a few things that have taken my interest recently:
Benedict Brian takes on a new approach to his photography by taking boring picture postcards of his local neighbourhood.
Rick Bebbington discussed why everyone should know a bit of filmaking so we can all share our life and memories with our friends and family.
If your looking for a mountain to climb that isn’t one of the big three peaks in the UK then Weekend Adventures has a guide to hiking Helvellyn.
I’ve also put together a short montage of some of my outdoor adventures from 2023! Watch it below!
I’ve started off my turning 30 challenge with mixed success.
I’ve enjoyed 5 Parkruns over the past month, including one on Christmas day! I have however eaten my body weight in chocolate, so am probably doing a better effort of putting 30kg on than losing it.
I’ve spoken a little bit about what it was like running my first 5 Parkruns, each at a different course, and have also been out and explored my first grid square. An update on that will be coming soon on my website, so keep an eye out!
Please also consider following me on my social media channels for regular updates. I put a lot of effort into sharing these adventures with you and your support is very much appreciated and helpful.
