Get Up Go Outside - Everyday Adventures 15
A month that has felt as short as the British November days.
The autumnal days have come and gone. The trees run bare and their golden leaves lie upon the ground, trodden into the ever increasing mud. Winter brings with it a lack of motivation to get outside, but there is still beauty to be enjoyed out there, and what better time to enjoy some solitude than whilst everyone else remains inside.
Here are a few small adventures I’ve been on over the past month:
A Trip to Blackpool
We relived some childhood memories with a trip back to Blackpool for the Illuminations for the first time in 10 years. A quick 2 days trip in Storm Bert to enjoy a hot chocolate and 6 miles of lights. You can see some of my photography from the trip on my Adventure Lens Stack!
A View From A Hill
A couple of times this month I re-routed the dog walk and took a trip to the top of the local hill. It’s a place I love thanks to it’s full 360 panoramic views of Leicestershire, including the the skyline of the city centre, the hills of Bradgate park and the rolling farm fields Leicestershire is known for.
When I find myself with free time that isn’t spent outdoors, I usually end up reading or watching other people spend their time outside. Here are a few things that have taken my interest recently:
A night at Britain’s most remote hostel see’s
enjoy a short trip with her dad to the Lakes to enjoy a little bit of remoteness.A new 258 mile bikepacking route on the Yorkshire Coast could be a great adventure for 2025.
Most months become a race to finish whatever book I am (painstakingly slowly) reading so that I can include a review in this newsletter. This month I have failed!
So instead of giving a review, I am asking you the reading for some suggestions for books I can add to my Christmas list? Comment below.

I'm currently reading Fifteen Wild Decembers. It's a creative re-imagining of the life of Emily Brontë and leans heavily into how much she enjoyed being outside. I really enjoy walking and running in the moors near Haworth where she lived and a lot of the book describes her experience there.
